Program Notes

Last evening Maya, Jamuna and I attended a Chamber Music event which included Maya's AMFS teacher Paul Kantor.  It was nice to see him perform and to say hello backstage afterward.  The program started out with a woman playing flute and another woman singing operatic soprano.  We weren't expecting that.

At each event there are ushers handing out programs the size of a small phone book.  The "books" are full of interesting information including program notes that describe the background of the composer at the time the piece was composed and how various influences may have shaped the music.  We quit bringing home programs after the first concert in order to reduce waste but now I realize that a new (identical appearing) program is produced each week.

I will pick up a current copy tomorrow as I want to quote a line for the record.
